Polka Dots and Paisleys.....

Here's a picture of some of the newest *stuff* to roll off the back of the UPS truck this week!  This is *Polka Dots and Paisleys* by Minick and Simpson
(Moda Fabrics).  We not only have charm packs and a few bolts, but we also have the latest arrival of Frivols in those adorable tins!  I don't know about you, but I LOVE paisleys, not to mention anything with polka dots =)

We were kept hopping this week, even though it was a shorter one for us at the shop after being closed Monday for Labor Day.  Diane and I couldn't believe it when we looked at the clock this afternoon and it was nearly 5:00 and time for her to go home!  Speaking of Diane....we have added yet another Beginning Machine Embroidery class.  She has a couple of spots open in the one Friday, October 2nd and also Friday, October 9th.  She also has one spot left in this Wednesday's (September 16) Rapid Fire Hunter Star class and a couple of openings in the Rapid Fire Lemoyne Star September 30th.  She's gonna be one busy teacher this month!!

I've been attempting to get the quilting done on our new Dollar Menu pattern using Riley Blake's Bloom and Bliss fabrics.....did I mention that machine quilting is not my forte?  We have another quilt on the design wall made from one of the Villa Rosa Design $2.00 postcard patterns.  I made it using some of the 30's prints in my *collection* but I think I'll get one of our many talented professional quilters to quilt that one for me so it will get done in a more timely fashion!

Hope those of you in the Pacific Northwest enjoyed the gorgeous summer day today!  Have a lovely Sunday everyone.....

Sorry.....lots of *life* happening.....

Sorry about being AWOL from the blog for a few weeks.  We've had lots of *life* happening around here.  In August, we had our annual family campout at Bay View State Park near Anacortes.  Our daughter,Lydia and son, Dave, and their families drive north and we drive south and meet there.  (Our oldest son, Pete, lives in Nashville, but one of these times we're going to see if he can't arrange a visit during this time!)  We spent three nights this year and it was tons of fun!  Well, except for the downpour most of Friday....almost the only time it rained the whole month of August!  This is a picture of Grandpa John (aka the retired guy) making his traditional waffle breakfast, with me manning the bacon and eggs in the trailer!

Then....many of you know that the Saturday windstorm blew down our HUMONGOUS chestnut tree around noon that day.  Did you see the retired guy on the front page of the Bellingham Herald?  That picture was taken across the street from the house.  Harriet and Alicia didn't think it was him, because the man looked too small.....then they realized he looked small only because the tree was so huge.  Sad to see that 80+ year old tree go.  Glad that no one was hurt and our neighbor's property really didn't sustain any damage either.  The guys from Acme Tree Works were absolutely phenomenal and had the part of the tree that was on the house removed and the roof temporarily tarped by midnight Saturday.  We have a few holes in the roof, lots of broken rafters and a hole in the living room ceiling.  But it could have been soooo much worse!  Just waiting on insurance for the go ahead on the repair work.  There's a lot more light in the living room now too =)

So that's part of the reason you haven't heard much from me lately.  We are keeping super busy at the shop too.  Tomorrow (September 8th) will be the last day to get a free Row By Row pattern and to purchase a kit until November 1st.  We'll still have some license plates available though.  We've got some great new fabrics lately too!  And the newest Quilt Sampler magazine arrived last week.  I will try to get some more info up soon....thanks for your patience.....
