Hey....it's me again!  Just wanted you to know that the retired guy/webmaster just updated the classes page on the website.  This is a picture of one of them that Diane is teaching in September.  It's called Kimimila and is a two-part class (FYI...not recommended for beginners).  There are several other great classes going on in September, so you might want to hop over there and check them out!

Whew....the sale last week was lots of fun....so nice to see so many of you!  It has just been a super busy summer around here.  And then, this week we've been getting some new fabrics, so we've been doing the *fabric shuffle* to make room!  There's a darling group from Riley Blake that we put right front and center at the counter.  It's called *Bloom and Bliss* and is cute as can be!  There were some new Kaffe fabrics that came this week too....good thing, since we sold LOTS of them last week.  We have some of the Shot Cottons too that have proved to be popular.  Next, we may try some of his stripes.  Okay....I'm doing this at the shop, at there are folks who want to buy fabric.....imagine that....gotta run!!

Guest blog post by Tonya......

Hey....check out this guest blog post from Tonya Alexander!  We are sew proud of her.....we can say *we knew her back when*

She will be teaching this runner next month in conjunction with a Kaffe Fassett charm square swap.  We just scheduled it, so it's not on the website yet.  Let us know if you're interested in that, plus we have a list going for the pre-order of her book *Stash Lab* coming out in October.

Okay.... in the middle of our Sizzling Summer Sale....gotta run!!

Sizzling Summer Sale and August Update.....

Share this news with your fabric-loving friends!!
It's time once again for our annual......
Help us make room for our new fabric arriving!
*Clearance fabric not included
*Minimum cut 1/8 yard
Now, back to our regularly scheduled August update  =)
AUGUST'S NIFTY NOTIONFor August’s Nifty Notion we’re featuring the new *Itty Bitty Eighths* rulers from Creative Grid. There are 2 sizes ~ 3" x 7" and a 6" square.  They were designed by Lisa Bongean of Primitive Gatherings with easy to read 1/8 inch markings. Black and white dashed ” markings show on light and dark fabrics, plus the Creative Grid *grip* helps holds the fabric while you’re cutting. The regular price $15.95 ~ but Nifty Notion price just $10.95 for the entire month of August!

ROW BY ROW EXPERIENCE ~ JUNE 21 - SEPTEMBER 8 We're participating in Row By Row Experience! Let me try and explain it. There are shops in all 50 states and the provinces in Canada participating. Each shop designs a *row* that is 36½” long and up to 9½” wide fitting this year’s theme *water*. At each shop you get a free pattern for their row (no mail order). We also have kits for our row, as well as our fun collectible license plate ~ HKD ON QLTS (our *row* has some fish and a baited hook!) See the blog and/or Facebook for pictures. More info at www.rowbyrowexperience.com
BONNIE’S TEAM…...Dear friend and customer, Bonnie DeSpain, lost her battle with cancer in 2001. In her memory, we annually help the group she started, “Bonnie's Team”. Here’s what you can do: Aug 1-Sept 29, pick up your one yard of batting and one yard of 44” cotton fabric for the back of your quilt (donated by Fabric-Etc - limit one per customer). Using any design, make a quilt with the approximate dimensions 34” x 42” (Bonnie’s original size). Bring the quilt to us by Oct 17. Quilts will be displayed at the shop Oct 19-24. Your quilt will then be donated to a chemotherapy patient at our local Infusion Center. More info and history is available on our website.

NEW STUFF….CLASSES…..INSTAGRAM....Lots to tell you about, so here are the headlines! I know it’s still summer, but I need to tell you that we’ve got some great Halloween prints! Jan used some to make a Trick Or Treat bag from the latest *Quilts and More* magazine. There’s also a placemat/pillow panel that is fun, quick and easy. And then, of course there’s Christmas fabric too….we just got a great grouping of prints by the Alaskan artist Barbara Lavalee! There are only a few of these left, but we have a super advent calendar panel. There are new poppies on fabric that are glorious! *Aunty Acid* is such a hoot….you’ve got to stop and read it next time you’re in the shop. There’s also a new Asian grouping of fabrics and one of them is a popular koi print! We just got our re-order of the Jen Kingwell *Gardenvale* stripes…..I made a quilt using stripes and a Dresden ruler that is pretty darn cool, if I do say so myself! We’ve also started to bring in a few of the Kaffe Fassett shot cottons, with more on the way. One of our resident quilt designers, Tonya Alexander, has a book *Stash Lab* coming out from Martingale in October...congrats to this very talented lady! We have names of folks who would like us to hold one for them, so let us know if you want to be added to that list. Classes? We have a Beginning Quilt class starting in September. Diane’s also teaching *Kimimila* a spectacular round butterfly project. There are several others in the works, including a beginning machine appliqué class, so watch the website for more info.  Hey....we are on Instagram now...follow us ~ okay?!  Find us at #fabricetc

CAROL'S COMMENTS.....How are you faring in the HOT weather here in the Pacific Northwest? My, oh my…..we just aren’t used to this kind of heat, are we? We’re fortunate at the shop to be air conditioned….please, don’t forget that at any time you are more than welcome to come in and just *hang out* in the cool….grab one of our magazines to look at or bring some stitching and join us! We’re happy to *share* our cool air with you. Have you been traveling or entertaining this summer? We’ve so enjoyed meeting lots of new folks coming through the area this summer….it’s just fun to have this *fabric loving/stitching thing* in common, isn’t it?

And for that…..I am, as always, sew thankful ~
