Hot item...pun intended.....

Just wanted to pop in and remind you about our Nifty Notion.  It's been a *hot item* this month (pun absolutely intended).  It's been getting rave reviews from everyone!  Regular price is $30, but it's on for $21.95 until the end of the month, as in this Saturday.  Heats up super fast, steams and even has dual voltage, if an overseas trip is in your future.

Well, we've been having a really busy and fun week so far at the shop.  At our Fat Tuesday Sale last week, a lovely lady came in and Harriet and I spotted this darling bag she had right away.  Had she made it, we asked.  Why, yes she did.  What pattern?  The Mondo Bag.  Hmmmm......I had heard this was a really cute bag, so I got the pre-printed interfacing and pattern months ago.  Well, life intervened and I never got around to looking seriously at it.  Monday, Diane helped me go through our batik scrap drawers and find a good color combo.  Yesterday afternoon and today, we got out the 2 1/2" strip die and our Accuquilt Studio cutter and are working our way through the pile, making lots of 2 1/2" squares.  Jan has read the directions and has assured me we can absolutely do this!  Of course, it may take a week or so for us to obsess over a scrappy layout......I'll keep you posted!  Have a great evening.....for me, laundry, bookwork and then some stitching....

Wool applique.....

Just wanted to pop in and let you know there are still two or three spots open in this *flag banner* class coming up this Saturday, February 28th.  Jan made this one and it's hers to hang up on Independence Day when they have a big family celebration at her house.  She'll be showing you the basics of wool applique in the class.  And the nice thing is that everything is included in the price of the class ($40).  You get the pattern, all the wool and fabrics for the front, back and binding, plus threads to do the applique, plus Jan's sunny disposition and always fun instruction!!  Call or e-mail if you're interested.  Why not grab a friend and take the class together?

Has the weather the last couple of days just been delightful or what?!?  My only complaint, if you can call it that, is that I can see how horribly awful the windows on the inside of the shop look!  Oh dear, I must do something about them soon.  We've been keeping busy this week.  Saturday, the gals from Applique Society met in the morning and then Sharon taught her Beginning Hand Quilting class in the afternoon.  Harriet and I tidied up and she cut some tumblers to make a few more of our tumbler flag kits.  I've been perusing the first row of fabrics, knowing that I must make room for 21 bolts of Kaffe fabric set to arrive by Friday!  Jan and I will have to work on that later this week, I guess.

Well, I am off to my sewing room to work on something I started a couple of weeks ago, but that got sidelined in my rush to Fat Tuesday.  The retired guy and I went for a lovely walk down at the southside and Boulevard Park that ended with delightful halibut and chips at the *bus* in Fairhaven!  Ahhh....hope your Sunday is a good one!

Brave Girl.....

I have meant to show you all a picture of this for a few weeks now!  Well, today is the day.  This is made using a fabric line from Hoffman.  There are
two *girls* in the free pattern here.  This one is Brave Girl and there's also a pattern for Bold Girl.  The words on the fabrics are wonderful and isn't she fun?  Diane *built her* for us and then we did some embellishing.  She's on the design wall if you'd like to take a look-see.

Well, being a *brave girl* myself, I managed to get up at zero dark thirty yesterday morning and make it through our annual Fat Tuesday Sale which is always on Mardi Gras.  There were LOTS of folks and LOTS of fat quarters!  people always ask if there are really shoppers here at 6:00 in the morning.  Yup....the room was full of eager shoppers at 6:05!  It's always such a fun day, but I was glad to see my pillow last night.

What's next?  Well a few things are on the radar.  The Tri-County Quilt Tour *Farm to Market* is in just over a month ~ March 26-28, so we'll be forging full steam ahead on that in the next few weeks.  We also need to get a block designed for the upcoming Shop Hop in June.  This year we're going to participate in the Row by Row Experience, so I need to get all the scoop on that and design our row for June also.  We got the patterns today for a Block of the Month we're hoping to do as soon as the fabrics get here and Jan and I have a chance to get started on it...stay tuned on that one.  Have a lovely evening....I'm going to go find my chair and stitchery!

One might think that I had been *woolgathering* since I haven't posted in a while!  Where did that word come from, anyway?  Well, evidently *woolgathering* was going in search of bits of wool that sheep may have caught and left on bushes.  As you might imagine, it was a pretty futile endeavor.....but my woolgathering was not fruitless!  I say all of this to let you know that we just put out 60 new pieces of hand dyed wool from Olympic Dye Works on the Olympic Peninsula.  It took us a while to figure out, but we managed to cut the larger pieces down into two sizes, since so many of you really only need a smaller amount.  Jan took some home and is playing with a pattern in the newest Quilts and More magazine.  You'll have to take a look at them the next time you're in....they are absolutely gorgeous and rich in color!

What else has been happening?  Well, it took most of last week, but we managed to get the shop put back together after the sale.  Thanks to so many of you who came!  We made some room and some of the new fabrics we had on order have started to arrive.  There's a great new coffee group and some bolts of Coca Cola fabric too.  As I mentioned, the new Quilts and More magazine is here, as well as the latest American Patchwork and Quilting.  Fat Tuesday is on the horizon, so we're busy getting ready for that.  It's Tuesday, February 17th this year.....and we're cutting the last of the fat quarters for you.  I'll be sending an e-mail reminder next week and getting ready to set my alarm for zero dark thirty!  Okay....got to run....have a few more *chores* to do before bedtime.  Have a wonderful week!
