Hopping down the bunny trail.....

If you live in Whatcom County....especially the north part of the county, I thought you could use this *springy* look tonight!  We've been playing with the other half of the Riley Blake Easter banner.  First, we decided to put an egg on each pennant and decorate them.  Jan and I quickly got bogged down obsessing over the decorating.....surprise, surprise  =)   Alicia to the rescue!!  She came up with the darling bunny tails and ears for three of the *eggs* we had.  Okay, I still do not have them finished, as you can see, but I am getting closer.  Won't this look darling hanging in the shop....or you could make one for your house!

Sew....the weather.  OMG....who knew we were in for this?  I even closed up a little early tonight due to weather and lack of customers.  I've seen where a lot of you are having fun sewing and quilting during the snowstorm.  Does that mean I'll have a run on batting soon?!?  You'll have to stop by and tell us what you've been working on the last few days.  Okay, that's all for now.....I have some more paperwork to do.  Night all!

X O X O......

With Valentine's Day at the end of last week, this is perfect timing!  I've been hanging on to these two quilts that we have as samples.  I had to wait until the magazines came that they are featured in.  Finally.....late yesterday the mail person came in with them ~ YES!!  Our talented customer/friend Tonya Alexander has these two baby quilts in the current McCall's Quilting magazine!  And she was kind enough to let us borrow the quilts for display.  Nikki Crisp (Country Quilter) quilted them for her.  Congratulations to both of you!  This quilt would be a wonderful gift for a new baby.  And look at the borders.  Don't you love the way she mitered the corners and used that jumbo ric rac?  You might remember me telling you that we just got quite a few more colors of this ric rac......now you know *the rest of the story* ~ right?!?

What else is happening?  Well, we've been busy getting ready for Fat Tuesday.  It's just two weeks from this Tuesday!  Going to be a lot of fun....we've got a super selection for you this year.  I'll show you a picture soon of another project Harriet, Jan and I have been fiddling around with too.  And I have been having sew much fun playing in my Kansas Trouble scraps.  I have the center all done and now I'm working on the borders.  I'll get a picture of that too.  And...there's another project rattling around in my head that will hopefully become one of our Dollar menus.  Once I am convinced I can pull it off, I'll let you in on it ~ okay?  Speaking of which....think I will head down to my sewing area and see if I can make some headway on that right now!  Have a super week everyone!

Stepping Stones......

This was the quilt that was keeping my legs warm last week as I was sewing the binding.  I think it took me longer than usual to bind because I didn't want to give it up during that cold snap  =)   The fabric line is from Studio e and it's called River Mist....a lovely Asian group.  The pattern is called "Stepping Stones" and is a free download.  I cut some kits for it and Linda and Harriet will be getting them all tied up for you tomorrow.  I wish I would have taken the picture before I hung up the quilt, since you cannot see the bottom of it where it is right now.  It was really a lot of fun to make.  Finished size is about 65" x 75".  Tracey did a wonderful job quilting it for us....you'll have to take a look when you're in our neighborhood.

Today, I was very happy that Jan could come back to work.  She's been battling a bad bronchitis bug, but is on the winning side now!  We kept busy with customers and freight.  Got some super colors in jumbo ric rac today.  In a few days I'll show you why I wanted some of the jumbo stuff.....

I'm working on a couple of projects right now that are calling my name, sew I'm going to close and go *play* with them  I"ll be posting some pics when I get closer to the finish line.  Hope your week has been a good one sew far!

Stamp of Approval.....

We finally got to bring this bright, happy, cheerful quilt out of the back room!  *Stamp of Approval* is the latest quilt that our talented customer, Tonya Alexander, has in the current issue of American Patchwork and Quilting.  She got it back a few weeks ago and is letting us borrow it.  BUT....the magazines hadn't come yet and we didn't want to torment you by putting it out with no pattern =)  Well, today they finally arrived.  I grabbed the quilt, gave it a quick press and up on the wall it went.  Isn't it just super?  And our Tracey quilted it for Tonya, so her name is in the magazine too!  You're going to love the quilting.....This quilt is Tonya's take on a *postage stamp* quilt.  Do you sort your scraps into usable strips or squares?  Well, this one take 1 1/2" squares (strips).  When I saw it, I thought...Kansas Troubles might look really good in this pattern!  Diane thought....batiks might look really good in this pattern!  We're cutting 1 1/2" strips and using up scraps to try it in a couple of different looks.  And....guess what....we have a 1 1/2" die strip cutter for the Accuquilt Studio.  You could even rent it for an hour or so and get all those strips ready to go.  Anyway, you'll have to pop in and take a peek at the quilt.  Congratulations, Tonya and Tracey ~ we are very proud of both of you!

How's your week going?  Brrrrrrr.......huh?  But we cannot complain (too much) given some of the weather happening in other parts of the country.  I have a little over one side of a quilt to bind and I will miss having that over my legs for part of each evening.  Actually, hoping to kit that quilt up tomorrow at the shop.  Hope you have a lovely Friday!  Night all......

Loves me....loves me not....loves....

I just now saw that the last post was a week ago.  Well.....I managed to get a bit of a stomach bug last week and it laid me pretty low for a few days  =(   Just now starting to get a little zing back in my step.  Thankfully, I do not get sick very often (quick....find some wood to knock on!)  There certainly have been some NASTY bugs going around this winter, don't you think?  So many of our customers and some of the staff have had a really rough go of it.  Let's all hope that February brings some reprieve in that regard.

February....Valentine's Day is just a little over a week away.  We recently got this little penny rug-type pattern and Linda took it home one day and brought this back a couple of days later!  (Sorry about that pin in the picture.  I should have taken it off the wall to get the shot, but I was in too big of a hurry.)  She used some of our wool felt to make it, but you could use felted wool also.  We're looking for some more projects to use some of the fun colors we keep adding.

We finished moving some things around at the shop after our Anniversary Sale and new spring prints will arrive soon....some already have.  I'm putting the binding on an Asian inspired quilt that I hope to kit this week.  And there are a few other things we're working on that I'll be showing you soon!

Of course, I couldn't end without saying how about those Seahawks Sunday at the Super Bowl?  WOW!!!  I didn't even have to anxiously pound the treadmill for the whole game!  ;-)
